UVA and UVB Absorbance:

The UVA Absorbance shows you how many UVA rays are blocked by your sunscreen. UVA rays are responsible for sun-related skin aging. So the higher the UVA absorbance of your sunscreen, the better it is for your skin.

To claim UVA protection, the ratio of UVA Protection Factor and UVB SPF (Sun Protection Factor) must be at least 1/3.

When you have a sunscreen with SPF 50+ (which equals a SPF 60 or higher), the UVA Protection Factor is 20 and the UVA absorbance is therefore 95%.

PA ++++:

The PA rating system is based on the Persistent Pigment Darkening method (PPD) and indicates the UVA protection level of a sunscreen. It comes from Japan and the rating system is as follows:

PPD between 2 and 4 = PA+

PPD between 4 and 8 = PA++

PPD between 8 and 16 = PA+++

PPD of 16 and higher = PA++++

In other words, the more + that follows the PA, the better you skin is protected from dangerous UVA rays.

Infrared A & Blue Light:

Infrared A rays from the sun can cause serious damage to the skin. Just like UV radiation, they are able to penetrate deep into the skin. The rays attack the mitochondria in the skin jewels and activate free radicals, which damage the body's cells.

Possible skin damage caused by infrared A rays:

• Sun-related aging of the skin
• Wrinkles
• Decreased elasticity
• Reduced moisture retention
• Dry skin

Non-comedogenic:

Non-comedogenic" - a term that sounds more complicated than it actually is. In simple terms, it means that the cream won't clog your pores.
